Columbia History: Strolls and Rolls (Photos)

Here’s a quick look at some historical happenings in Columbia this week:

Friday, April 12, 11 a.m.: Robert Mills Historic District Walking Tour: Join the Historic Columbia Foundation for a guided tour of the Robert Mills Historic District. Guests can enjoy the charm of this downtown neighborhood as they walk past some of Columbia's oldest remaining homes, observing some of the significant architectural features found in the area.

Saturday, April 13, 10:30 a.m.: Woodrow Wilson Restoration Workshop/ Painting: Join HCF and master painters from Palmetto Decorations on April 13 for a workshop on painting. They will discuss the application of faux finishes and paint schemes within this 1872 historic structure. Cost of the workshop is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Sunday April 14, 2 p.m.: Second Sunday Roll: Heart of Columbia Bus Tour: See the important downtown sites in the central core of Columbia. The tour offers informative and entertaining stories about the Palmetto State's capital. A few of the landmarks on the tour are the Robert Mills Historic District, the State House, the Governor's Mansion, the University of South Carolina's Horseshoe (the original campus), historic churches, Historic Columbia Foundation house museums and the Vista, an area of restored train stations and warehouses. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
