On Sunday afternoon, the Oakland Raiders came within a complete pass of potentially upsetting the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium but alas, a Terrelle Pryor interception ended the threat and the game.
Pryor, who earned the starting QB spot, produced over 300 total yards of offense in an overall impressive performance. With the Raiders getting the ball on the opening drive, Pryor took the team downfield but an interception from Greg Toler ended the drive.
Andrew Luck then kicked off an 89-yard scoring drive that was punctuated with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne.
Down 7-0, the Raiders got the ball back but were unable to do much on offense and were forced to punt. Luck took advantage by taking Indianapolis 69 yards on 8 plays to throw a 20-yard touchdown to tight end Dwayne Allen. After the PAT, the Colts were up 14-0 in the second quarter.
This time, Oakland was able to answer back and Darren McFadden took the ball into the end zone after an 85-yard drive, followed by a Sebastian Janikowski extra point to make it 14-7 Colts. After holding the Colts to a three-and-out, the Raiders got themselves in position for a field goal right before the end of the first half but Janikowski's was wide and the score remained the same going into halftime.
The Raiders would force a punt when the Colts' drive stalled and Janikowski hit a 38-yard field goal a few minutes later to cut the lead down to 14-10.
When Luck was sacked by DE Jason Hunter on a 4th and 1 play at the Colts 44, the Raiders took over and Pryor took the team 44 yards en route to a 5-yard touchdown pass to Denarius Moore. After the extra point, the Raiders led 17-14 with 11:09 to play in the fourth quarter.
However, the Colts came firing back and 80 yards later, he ran 19 yards for a touchdown to give Indianapolis a 21-17 lead after the PAT.
With minute to play, the Raiders took hold of the ball at their own 20 and Pryor took the team down into the red zone but an interception by Antoine Bethea on 3rd and goal ended Oakland's run as the Colts would down the ball to end the game.
The Raiders, now 0-1 will come home to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in their home opener at O.co Coliseum.
