BREAKING NEWS:
It has just been announced that Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator Chuck Pagano has been named as the new head coach for the Indianapolis Colts.
The announcement came following a series of speculation surrounding who would be appointed for the job, following the open consideration of a number of candidates who were also being considered for the position.
Jim Irsay announced that the decision would be revealed within the week following a number of comments made on the social networking site Twitter.
The Colts, who currently appear to be undergoing a dramatic rebuild following their poor performance this season, have made a number of drastic changes. Since finishing the season 2-14 the most notable of these changes have included the letting go of Jim Caldwell and General Manager Bill Polian who was later replaced by Ryan Grigson.
Pagano, 51 is believed to be the ideal candidate to help get the Colts back on their feet, and in particular improve the defensive side of the team. Pagano who started in the NFL in 2001 as Secondary coach for the Cleveland Browns has come a long way. Most recently Pagano held the role of Defensive Coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens who finished the season 12-4, and were the 3rd ranked overall defense, allowing only 16.6 points a game and less than 300 yards.
In a statement released by the Ravens Pagano has said of his new position:
"It' difficult to leave the Ravens, but I couldn't pass up on this great opportunity"
A Press conference will be held tomorrow at 3pm ET, in order to make the announcement official and introduce Pagano to the media in which he will speak of his plans for the team.
