Living in the 21st century, its sad but factual that interracial relationships are met with hardships from peers, family members and even society. Slowly but surely more states are legalizing gay marriages, marijuana is closer than ever to being legalized in many states, technology is constantly evolving, scientists are developing and discovering more than ever. Yet still it’s a touchy subject when it comes to marrying or dating outside one’s race. Should it matter the color of someone’s skin when it comes to true love? Does the definition of love vary from heritage, race or denomination? If not then why in this present day so many are faced with negativity for being in a relationship with someone that doesn’t share the same color of their skin?
What is the characteristic of a human being? Some characteristics of a human being can be listed as spiritual, emotional, intelligence, economical, social, religious, physical, cultural, intellectual and artistic. In all denomination of human lies these traits and it’s time to understand that regardless of the color of our skin, we all bleed and are all part of that same human race. So therefore the characteristics of a human being is colorless.
It helps to know who you are as a person and understand that we all are responsible for our own happiness. Allowing negativity, prejudice and ignorance decide the fate of a potentially wonderful union is not only sad but pitiful.
Sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and there is nothing wrong or immoral or disrespectful to love and be loved by someone outside of a certain race. Each person has a right to love and be in love with whomever their heart's desire. Life is already a difficult journey. Why live in fear of what people may think or how they would respond to your choice. So if you’re torn between color and love, remember true love holds no boundaries, space or distance. True love stands the test of time, flourishes in any weather and is strong enough to endure to the end. Love regardless!
