Colorado String Quartet in concert Sunday March 24 at 3 p.m.

Saugerties Pro Musica is proud to present the Colorado String Quartet, one of the world’s premier string quartets, in a rare Hudson Valley concert on Sunday, March 24th at 3 p.m. The Colorado String Quartet is composed of Julie Rosenfeld and D. Lydia Redding, violins, with Marka Gustavsson, viola and Katie Schlaikjer, cello. This is only the third time these talented female musicians have performed for Saugerties Pro Musica audiences in the last 7 years. It may be their last appearance together anywhere before they go their separate ways. Certainly, it is their last Saugerties Pro Musica performance. Do not miss it!

They will be performing an All-Beethoven Program of two works: Quartet in E-flat Major, Opus 127 and Quartet in B-flat Major, Opus 130. (to see their complete program)

The Colorado Quartet has been a groundbreaking ensemble for more than 30 years. Catapulted onto the scene by back to back wins at the First Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Naumburg Chamber Music award in May of 1983, it was the first all-women quartet to attain international stature. Since then the Quartet has played over 1200 concerts worldwide, and is the first female quartet in history to perform the complete Beethoven Quartet Cycle in North America and Europe; its recording of the cycle is available on the Parnassus label. According to Parnassus label owner and Woodstock Times music critic, Leslie Gerber, this may be the last performance of the Colorado String Quartet.

Future concerts: the Merling Trio (piano, violin, cello) on April 28, 2013; and, to close our season, the Catskill Glee Club returns for their annual concert in May 5, 2013. To learn all about Saugerties Pro Musica and the upcoming concerts please visit our website.
