Colorado State Basketball nearing top-25 in polls

The Rams are rockin' and rollin' in Fort Collins.

CSU is fresh off winning back-to-back Mountain West Conference games and they're coming closer to being ranked in the top-25.

On Wednesday, Colorado State destroyed Air Force 79-40, setting two school records in the process; the largest margin of victory over a conference foe and earning their 23rd straight home win.

Saturday was the special game though, as the Rams beat the No. 23 UNLV Rebels 66-61 during a whiteout for cancer awareness and a near-sell out crowd. The Moby Maniacs were out in full force, creating a definite home court advantage, and Dorian Green's career night of 24 points, five assists and five rebounds earned him MWC Player of the Week.

With the wins, the Rams improved to 15-3 overall and 2-1 in the MWC, and the victory over UNLV stands as a signature win at this point in the season.

But, according to the coaches and AP writers, they're not yet a top-25 team.

CSU is certainly earning more votes than earlier in the season, with 16 coming from coaches and seven from the AP, but they sit at 31st in the USA Today poll, the 32nd best team in the nation according to the AP.

With a huge game this Wednesday against No. 15 New Mexico in The Pit (6 p.m. MT tip on CBS Sports Network), a win would almost certainly mean a ranking next week.
