Colorado Springs Recycles Collection Day

Colorado Springs Recycles Collection Day - Presented by Pikes Peak Earth Day

Pikes Peak Earth Day committee will host a multi-materials recycling collection for the residential community. Colorado Springs Recycles projects to be the largest and most comprehensive recycling event in the history of the Pikes Peak region.

Pikes Peak Earth Day has been organizing an annual celebration of people and planet in the Pikes Peak region for over 5 years. In addition to the Pikes Peak Earth Day celebration on April 24 at Cornerstone Arts Center, Pikes Peak Earth Day is taking on a community-action component in the form of a community-wide, multi-material, recycling collection event.

The Colorado Springs Recycles event will offer the community the ability to ethically recycle electronics, batteries, tires, paint, compact fluorescent light bulbs, ink & toner cartridges and single-stream household recyclables. By offering a convenient location for collection of these potentially hazardous materials, Pikes Peak Earth Day hopes to divert this waste from the landfill by encouraging the public to responsibly recycle. Items collected at Colorado Springs Recycles will be recycled to make new products, reducing the amount of natural resources consumed.

Colorado Springs Recycles collection begins at 9:00 am ends at 2:00 pm and will take place in the north parking lot at University Village Colorado at 5400 N. Nevada Avenue. This event is available to residents (non-business) recyclers only. A fee of $5 per vehicle will be collected at the event. Although most material will be recycled at no extra cost, additional recycling fees may apply for some items. For a complete list of accepted materials and other event information please visit www.PikesPeakEarthDay.org.

Tax deductible donations will also be collected during the event to benefit Community Intersections, a local non-profit assisting disabled individuals attain self-sufficiency.
