Cory Piper is just one of the brave firefighters battling the Colorado Springs wildfire in Waldo Canyon and he lives in Parker. His wife and friends are hosting a fundraising drop off point at King Soopers at Jordan and Lincoln today June 29, 2012 from noon-3 p.m. Many Parker residents work for the Colorado Springs fire department as well as much of Parker's South Metro Fire District is also on the front lines of this devastating fire.
He and his crew have been fighting continually. They are exhausted both physically and emotionally. Corey's wife and several friends are coordinating a cash/gift card drive to buy supplies needed. Grocery store gift cards, restaurant gift cards or cash would be greatly appreciated as the firefighters are able to buy exactly what they need often at a reduced cost.
Please stop by if you are in the area and help out the brave and exhausted men and women who are fighting this horrific wildfire so close to home in Douglas County CO.

Update: June 30, 2012, over $1,000 was raised along with a ten foot thank you card that was signed by hundreds of Parker residents thanking the brave men and women who have been working on the fire for a week. More information on the results can be found at BestofParker.com
