The Colorado ski season got started with the opening of A-Basin and Loveland last month. However, there are some who believe that ski season isn’t really real, so to speak, until the annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo makes its stop in Denver.
Well, here it is: the 22nd annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo arrives at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
As per usual, you can find all kinds of deals on last season’s boards, skis, boots, clothing and accessories to fully accessorize yourself and your loved ones for this coming ski season, which is already shaping up to be a darn good one.
In addition to representatives from 25 Colorado resorts, reps from Ski Utah and other western and Canadian destinations will be on site selling season passes and lift tickets. Mountain lodging properties will be offering early-bird lodging packages and incentives as well.
The third annual Rocky Mountain Brew Fest returns, and for an additional fee beer lovers can indulge in one of three open sampling sessions for three hours per session on Friday or Saturday featuring the award-winning and seasonal specialties of 11 Colorado breweries including: AC Golden Brewing Company, Asher Brewing, Big Choice Brewing, Bristol Brewing, Elevation Beer Company, Kannah Creek Brewing, Left Hand Brewing Company, Odyssey Beerwerks, UpSlope Brewing, and Wynkoop Brewing.
Admission to the Brew Fest is $30 in advance or $35 at the door, and includes admission to the Ski & Snowboard Expo. Tasting times are Friday, Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m., or Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1-4 p.m. or from 5-8 p.m.
Other attractions with a family focus include the return of recently named U.S. Ski Hall of Fame nominee Fuzz Feddersen leading the Flying Aces in their trampoline aerial show, Olympian Doug Lewis putting kids through their fitness paces in the ELITEAM Training Center, beginners trying skiing on the Winter Park Kid’s Slope and mini-snowboarders in Burton’s Riglet Park.
There’s also the Keystone Kidtopia Play Park, an indoor climbing wall, the Gibbon Slackline, and a special course set up in the MBS MountainboardZone.
Admission is $12 for adults or $10 with a discount coupon available at any Colorado Ski & Golf store or at www.OnTheSnow.com. Kids 12 and under are free.
