Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown’s two-goal game gained him the Major League Soccer Player of the Week award for Week 13 of the 2014 MLS season.

The pair of tallies lit up the scoreboard before halftime in the Rapids 3-0 defeat of the Houston Dynamo Sunday night.

Brown’s first marker came when the match was barely five minutes old. He took a perfectly placed crossing pass from Rapids defender Marvell Wynne in the middle of the box and then headed the ball past the diving Dynamo goalkeeper, Tally Hall.

In the 35th minute, Brown completed the brace when Dillon Powers found him breaking clear behind the Dynamo defence. Brown ran onto the pass in the right corner of the box, and one-timed a blast into the lower left corner.

The Rapids have two fixtures this week, with the first being at home on June 4 versus the Chicago Fire and the second happening on June 7 when Colorado matches up against FC Dallas.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
