Colorado vehicle sales continue to roll. In August, sales of new cars and trucks were up 16 percent compared to last year. For the first 8 months of 2013, sales are up nearly 14 percent, compared to a year ago at this time.
Nationwide, Ford and Chrysler both are reporting sales increases for September, thanks to strong sales for pickup trucks. General Motors says sales are off for September, perhaps because Labor Day sales were recorded in August, rather than September.
Ford sales are up nearing 6 percent, giving Ford its strongest September since 2006. Fusion sales were up a whopping 62 percent. F-Series pickup sales are up nearly 10 percent.
Chrysler sales are up nearly 1 percent, giving Chrysler its best September since 2007. Chrysler, Dodge and Ram Trucks all saw increases, while Jeep and Fiat sales were down.
General Motors sales slid 11 percent. GM is in the process of switching over its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras to new models. The Buick and Cadillac divisions both saw sales increases.
