Colorado governors reprise their roles in The Nutcracker in Denver

Colorado Ballet announced yesterday that Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and former Governor Bill Owens will once again perform in its production of The Nutcracker on Dec. 18 at 6:30. The duo made their debut in the annual holiday production last year.

But don't expect to see the Guvs in tights and ballet slippers. Instead, they will be dressed as Arabian sherpas and carry the Arabian Princess on and off stage. Rather than dance, they will watch over her as she dances with her Arabian Prince in the second act.

“Denver audiences love and appreciate our traditional choreography; and year after year, Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker has created a sense of awe and dazzle even for annual patrons,” said Colorado Ballet’s Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “We are honored to have Governor Hickenlooper and former Governor Owens participant in this Denver tradition, as it will only amplify the magical experience.”

The Nutcracker runs through Dec. 24. Ticket prices range from $20-$140. To purchase, call 303-837-8888 ext. 2 or visit www.ColoradoBallet.org.
