The 2104 Colorado Golden Gloves Hall-of-Fame recognizes some familiar names

Earlier this afternoon, Colorado Golden Gloves Charities Chairman Jesse Mora shared this exciting news with Colorado amateur boxing fans.

The 2014 Colorado Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament begins March 26th thru March 29th at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center, I-70 at Chambers, in Denver.

There will be a Novice division bracket for those with five or less bouts and those with more than five bouts it mandatory they move to the Open division.

There will no longer be a B Class division.

Those boxing in the Open division and becoming champions in their weight bracket will advance to Regional Championship competition beginning April 12th in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Those winning Regional competition then advance to Las Vegas, Nevada, May 12 thru May 17, 2014, competing in the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions.

Due to USA Boxing ‘non-citizen’ rules, non-citizen boxers cannot advance to Regional or National tournaments, them unable to participate in Open class advancing bracket.

This year’s Colorado Golden Gloves Tournament will have a ‘non-citizen’ Open bracket where they will be acknowledged as Colorado Champions (and or runner-up) in this bracket but unable to advance to upper tournaments.

If you are ‘non-citizen’ and have five or less bouts you may participate in the Novice division as the Novice division is not an advancing bracket.

The 2014 Colorado Golden Gloves Hall-of-Fame Inductees list includes: Glenn DePriest (Coach), Margarito (Muggsy) Berzoza (Official), Ernest (Red) Martinez (Boxer) and Richard Beall (Special).

Congratulations to each of these 2014 Colorado Golden Gloves Hall-of-Fame Inductees, each well-deserving of this acknowledgment for their many years of dedicated service.

In addition the Colorado Golden Gloves Charities, Inc. has received a gracious $40,000 grant from Daniels Fund in support of their long running program, a non-profit organization established in 1972, that has helped both male and female boxers hone their boxing skills at absolutely NO EXPENSE to any participant.

The late Bill Daniels, a cable television magnate who was generous in supporting sports and educational endeavors for youth, continues his legacy through the Daniels Fund that provides grants and scholarships for needy youth in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah.

This much appreciated grant will be used to help further establish an academic study office, funding for the Colorado State Boxing Tournament, support for those traveling to Regional and National competition and other ongoing events along with the Colorado Golden Gloves Gym continuing to operate with NO EXPENSE incurred by any male or female registered participant.

For more information on the Colorado Golden Gloves, call Jesse Mora at 303-880-5515.

Thanks to Daniels Fund for their continued support and furthering of education ideals that prepares our youth for today, tomorrow and beyond.
