Do you have a child who is artistically gifted? Maybe you are looking for a fun home school art project for your entire family? If so, you might want to consider entering the 5th annual Dragon Boat Festival Design competition.

The annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) has been quickly becoming a summer tradition for families around the metro area and this year (the Year of the Dragon) one local artist will have his or her design chosen to be showcased on the Festival’s 2012 marketing materials.

The winner will also win a cash award of $300 and receive recognition as Festival poster artist. The second and third place winners will be awarded $200 and $100, respectively.

Anyone may participate regardless of age, experience or technical skill. The deadline to enter is March 31st. To see all of the competition rules, go to: 5th Annual Community Design Competition

The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is the largest pan-Asian cultural and athletic celebration between Chicago and the West Coast with over 100,000 visitors each year. This year’s Festival will be held on July 28th-29th at Denver’s Sloan Lake (20th and Sheridan Blvd).

The mission of the CDBF is to build bridges of awareness, knowledge and understanding between the diverse Asian Pacific American (APA) communities and the general public and the organization has been doing a good job in this arena since its inception.

Alongside the exciting and colorful dragon boat races, each year festival goers have the chance to shop for Asian arts, toys, clothing and more at the Asian Marketplace as well as enjoy authentic Asian food at the Taste of Asia Food Court.
