Colorado Cross Country Ski Guide 3/24-3/30

The cross country ski season is winding down despite a slight return to winter. Most nordic centers will be closing the first week of April so get out while you still can.


Beaver Creek

Five inches in the past 24 hours. 32Km of groomed trails now open to snowshoers and skiers. Snowshoe trails are also available at the base of the Mountain House. For more information call (970) 754-5313.

Breck/Frisco/Gold Run

Six new inches and everything is now open at Breck. 31Km with snowshoe trails as well.

All trails are now open in Frisco with one inch reported in the past 24. Spring like skiing is reported.

New snow and 24 km are fully open at Gold Run for classic and skate skiing according to sources.

Crested Butte

Continued snow is helping conditions. 45km are open and being groomed at the Crested Butte Nordic Center.

Devils' Thumb

100Km plus groomed and open for classic and skate skiing including Lactic Grande. Groomers are helping to cover thin spots. Dog friendly trails are also open with new snow recently. Marker Hill is finally open!


Great new snow in past week. Call for most updated trail status including what is open and groomed. 40Km of groomed trails open including Groomed and open trails include: Dixie, the Stadium, Milliron, Beavers Revenge, Twin Twisted Tree, For Pete's Sake, Roller Coaster, Woodcutters, Deadman's Gulch, and Porcupine loop.

Grand Lake

35km open for classic and skate. The newly remodeled skate shop is also open now. Try out one of their new trails.


A bit of new snow and trails are in great condition. 15km open for classic and skate as well as the snowshoe trails and tubing hill.


30km open. All the CMC trails and the Mineral Belt are open and groomed and with new snow are in good shape. Check the blog at: for the most up to date info.

Snow Mountain Ranch

Just, Old Lynch and Audun are closed until they get more snow. Icy conditions exist. Wednesday is Locals Day. Bring proof of Grand County residency and ski free. 70Km open now and groomed but there are some bare spots. New tracks are being set almost daily.

Steamboat Touring

100% (15km) of trails open for skating, classic and snowshoe. Spring conditions but still good coverage.

Tennessee Pass

100% open with 25Km and grooming almost seven days a week.

Vail Nordic

100% open with 17km for skiing and shoeing along with private and group lessons. Great snow this past weekend! Book a backcountry tour with them. Closing April 4th for the season so stop by while you still can.
