On July 4, 1975 the mint released 1.7 billion bicentennial quarters. The D mark was clad, the S is part silver. The ess's are from proof sets and uncirculated. They are worth over a buck. The regular clad is going for fifty seven cents now. The fun thing to do is a theme set for a friend or relative that collects.
Take the drummer and add the Fort McHenry obverse quarter. That makes a military pair you can add a small flag or a toy soldier to make a cute gift. You can extend the theme with the sentry obverse and the patriot too. You can go as far as the coins will let you.
This months fishing for coins where you sift through all your change, came up with few. The drummer quarter, the McHenry, and some old pennies. A 1970-s that is almost uncirculated, au. It has a nice gold shine still. The 1978-d is in excellent shape, the shine is gone but no bad marks are on it. So, the other coins I sifted were just regular respend stuff. The fishing will continue. Keep collecting my friends.
