Colo. woman fakes son’s cancer and collects thousands of dollars from town

One of the lowest forms of deception is to collect money by faking a fatal illness and preying on the generosity of neighbors, friends and kind hearts of the town. What is even more despicable is to use your child as the target of a fake cancer illness in order to collect thousands of dollars, as a woman allegedly did in Colorado according to Fox News.

Think about how so many charities like Make-a-Wish Foundation and many others work year round to bring a sense of comfort and warmth to the lives of fatally ill children and their parents. Then to think that a person like 28-year-old Sandy Nguyen of Centennial, Colo., would purposely deceive the town into holding fundraisers as a way of raising necessary funds to assist with fake medical bills.

There were many instances where her child’s school as well as the community held fundraisers that netted at least $25,000 for the family, reported Fox News. The police that arrested her said the woman used at least, “$16,000 of that money and paid for a trip to Disneyland for her family.”

The police lowered the boom on Nguyen by arresting her on Thursday which put an end to her alleged wholesale deception. She was charged with criminal impersonation as well as theft of between $20,000 and $99,000.

For the good people of the town of Centennial they have to be worrying about the harm the woman has not only caused her family and the townspeople, but her son as well. Too bad the alleged pilferer did not think about that before she launched her unconscionable scheme.
