Part one of a multi-part series on how local colleges and universities are utilizing Facebook...
The University of Kansas, like many colleges and universities, has immersed itself in social media in order to connect with prospective students, current students, athletics fans, alumni, and donors. In particular, the campus has created a series of Facebook fan pages; a great way for the University to provide valuable information to its constituents, as well as to create a sense of community among those with similar connections to or interests in the school.
The pages are open for anyone to "like" and serve as an additional tool for prospective students and their parents to explore the University of Kansas, its campus community, and the spirit of its alumni.
Here is a small sampling (with links) of the Facebook pages KU has made available to its fans:
University of Kansas Athletics
University of Kansas Honors Program
University of Kansas: Hawk Week
University of Kansas Medical Center
In addition, those interested in discovering KU via Facebook can find a multitude of other pages for individual KU sports, for specific schools and academic departments at the University of Kansas, for annual KU campus events, and more!
Helpful tip for finding KU related pages on Facebook: Go to any of the KU pages listed above and look on the left-side column for a section called "Likes." Click on "See All" to a view a list of related KU Facebook pages. The main University of Kansas Facebook page has the most related pages listed.
