The Telegraph.co.uk website reports that American universities are telling their students to avoid wearing politically incorrect offensive Halloween costumes. School officials consider cowboys, Indians and anything involving a sombrero as offensive.
The University of Colorado Boulder does not want to see their students wearing “white trash” costumes or anything over sexualized.
Also, parties with offensive themes are considered inappropriate. For instant, students should avoid any themes involving the ghetto, hillbillies, crime or anything involving sex.
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities have asked students to be sensitive to other cultures. The article also references to the major push to get Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins, to change their name to something less offensive. Even President Obama has weighed in on this heated topic. He has said that he’s in favor of the NFL team changing its name to something not so offensive to Native Americans.
