Have they been betrayed as their futures were mortgaged with huge student loans and then found out that the employment opportunities are being outsourced to job contractors in India and other foreign countries?
In her column, Phyllis Schlafly described college graduates as the “Lost Generation Betrayed by Obama”
… because more than half of recent graduates are jobless, or working non-career part-time jobs, or working jobs that don’t require a college degree.
Meanwhile the unemployment rate for those under 25-years-old is reported to be 15% but may actually be closer to 20% as of August 2013.
At the same time buried in Obamacare are contracts being given to companies that supply foreign workers instead of American college graduates.
Schlafly cites examples that include:
- Infosys $49.5 million contract to develop a health benefit exchange to replace Medicaid and eligibility systems. Analysts earn $63,631 per year, project managers $107,738 and technology architects $130,147
- Cognizant Technology Solutions paying $256,160 per year per position.
The prospects for recent college graduates in the US remain gloomy as
… good entry-level jobs are given to foreigners on H-1B visas instead of qualified Americans.
What does the future hold for the members of the "Lost Generation? The signs point to living with their parents for the foreseeable future, not getting married and having children and not even being able to afford something their parents took for granted at their age, perhaps a car and a home of their own.
