The Miami Hurricanes are a six point favorite over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets according to CBSsportsline.com. Unfortunately, Georgia Tech lost last week in conference play. While the Hurricanes are still undefeated, this is their first ACC game of the season. They need to get off to a strong start. It’s especially true because Miami is a dark horse for the BCS title game.
The country has always been enamored with Stephen Morris and the Miami offense, but it’s their defense that’s been outstanding this season. Right now, they are ranked 10th nationally, but their foe on Saturday provides a vastly different challenge.
Georgia Tech runs the triple option, but their offense has not been as great as advertised. Last week they were shut down by a great Virginia Tech defense, but they also struggled with North Carolina in a prior game.
Quarterback Vad Lee has been careless with the ball at times, and Miami should have plenty of chances to force some turnovers. Georgia Tech is still in the top 10 of rushing offense, but there’s something missing this season.
Defensively, Georgia Tech has a lot of speed and they are also ranked in the top 10. The offense helps keep them fresh, but they’ll have to contain Duke Johnson all game long.
The Verdict: If Miami can get out to an early lead, this might turn into a blowout. The Hurricane’s have big play potential. It all comes down to which team stops the run better. That team will be Miami.
