On Tuesday, three more ranked college basketball teams lost in one night. All three teams (Syracuse, Iowa State, Creighton) have lost consecutive games. In addition, they are all endanger of dropping seed lines come selection Sunday.
Michigan and Florida proved to be the class of their respective leagues. See the new NCAA bracket projections.
The Michigan Wolverines proved to be the best team in the Big 10. Their dominance over Illinois gave Michigan the outright conference title, and they are looking like one of the hottest teams in college basketball. If Michigan can run the table, they may be a real threat to snag a No.1 seed.
Florida also imposed their will on a conference foe. The Gators turned a two point halftime lead into a 26 point victory. Florida hasn’t lost a conference game yet, and they have one game remaining on the schedule. Michael Frazier hit a school record 11 3-pointers for the Gators. The win over South Carolina gave Florida a (17-0) record in the SEC. However, the Gators will be all in for the finale.
Kentucky 55- Alabama 48
Kentucky stopped a two game slide with a win over Alabama. The Wildcats improved to (22-8) overall. This was a win Kentucky needed in the worst way. Finally, Kentucky can focus on getting their biggest win in the season. If they are able to knock off Florida, perception will be a lot different entering the SEC tournament.
The Georgetown Hoyas used a terrific first half to knock off the Creighton Blue Jays. Led by D’Vauntes Smith Rivera’s 18 points and 12 rebounds, Georgetown won their 17th game of the season. Creighton lost their second straight game and they fell short of winning the Big East title. Doug McDermott passed Danny Manning on the all-time scoring list with 22 points. McDermott added 12 rebounds.
Baylor Knocked off Iowa State for their second straight win. The Bears got their 20th win of the season and they are on the verge of being a lock for the NCAA tournament. Baylor held Iowa State to their lowest point total this season. Iowa State has lost two straight games and their offense was stymied in the second half. Melvin Ejim and Georges Niang combined for 10 points.
Georgia Tech 67- Syracuse 62
The Orange also lost two straight games in the ACC. Here is the story and why they dropped a seed line. Syracuse is now tied for second place in the ACC.
Oregon 85- Arizona State 78
The Ducks have won six games in a row and they are finally over .500 in the PAC-12. With 21 wins on the season, Oregon will be a lock if they beat Arizona on Saturday. Arizona State has the same amount of wins, but they already have 10 conference wins. Still, the Sun Devils can’t afford to lose at Oregon State.
