The Week 16 college basketball rankings have Gonzaga up to No. 3 in both polls. The Week 16 AP Top 25 has Indiana at No. 1, followed by Miami at No. 2, and then Gonzaga. In both polls released Monday (Feb. 18), Gonzaga received first place votes, netting two in the AP Top 25 and three in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The only real difference in the top 10 of both rankings is that Michigan State is No. 4 and Florida is No. 5 for the writers and coaches swapped the teams. The rest of the top 10 has Duke, Michigan, Syracuse, Kansas, and Louisville in that order. Arizona fell all the way to No. 12 in both polls and Ohio State dipped to No. 18 in each.
Only one new team joined the Week 16 AP Top 25, as Virginia Commonwealth now appears at No. 24. The school is also No. 24 for the coaches, but Oregon also finally made that poll, coming in at No. 23.
Fans of the Gonzaga Bulldogs might be frustrated that Miami jumped them in the latest Coaches Poll, despite Gonzaga knocking off Saint Mary's 77-60. It seems that many Duke supporters slid over in support of the 21-3 Miami Hurricanes rather than the 25-2 Bulldogs. Both schools are rooting for an upset now, as Michigan State will now host No. 1 Indiana on Tuesday night (Feb. 19).
