College basketball rankings Top 25: Week 11

Welcome to the Examiner.com college basketball rankings, where Examiners from all over the nation vote for their Top 25 college basketball teams. Examiners sent in their weekly polls on Jan. 21, ranking the Top 25 college basketball teams in the country.

This week in college basketball saw the biggest change in the Top 25 college basketball rankings this season. While no new teams entered the rankings last week, this week's ranking saw four new teams join the rankings. There were also four teams who received first place votes. Duke sits in first with seven first place votes, Syracuse moved into second with four, Michigan finished third with three and Indiana received one, although they fell to seventh place.

The new teams in this week's rankings include Oregon, who made a nice jump all the way to 16th place, VCU, who entered the rankings at 20th, while Wichita State and Ole Miss entered the rankings in the final two spots. Georgetown, UCLA, UNLV and Illinois fell out of the rankings.

The Big Ten remains in first place for conferences, with five teams in the Top 25, despite the loss if Illinois this week. The Big East lost Georgetown to fall into second place with four teams in the rankings this week. The SEC added Ole Miss to move into third place with three teams. There is a log-jam next with six conferences with two teams each, including the Big 12, Pac-12, ACC, Atlantic-10, Mountain West and Mountain Valley Conference. The West Coast Conference has one team represented.
