College basketball rankings released: Duke, Virginia move into the top five

The AP poll released their newest college basketball ranking on Monday. For the second consecutive week, the top three teams remain the same. There are three new teams in top 10, and plenty of losses have shaken up the whole poll.

All three top teams have received first place votes. Florida led the way with (46) votes, while Wichita State garnered (14), and Arizona had (5).

Florida had another strong week in the SEC when they beat Vanderbilt and LSU to remain No. 1. The Gators haven’t lost a game during conference play and barring a three game skid entering “Selection Sunday,” Florida will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Wichita State is already done with the regular season and they finished with a (31-0) record. They are awaiting on the MVC tournament.

Arizona might be playing the best basketball of the season right now. They’ve punished their last three opponents are sniffing out one of the No.1 tournament seeds.

There are three ACC teams in the Top 10, and two of them reside in the first five. Duke comes in at No.4, while ACC leader, Virginia, enters the top five for the first time this season.

Syracuse comes in at No. 7 after their lopsided loss to Virginia.

Kansas also dropped out of the top five after a loss to Oklahoma State.

Villanova is the only Big East team in the Top 10. The Wildcats moved up two spots to No. 6. They also have the lead in the Big East conference.

Wisconsin is the highest rated Big 10 team. They returned to the Top 10 after winning seven games in a row.

San Diego State also moved back into the Top 10 after one week out. They are in a tight race for the MWC regular season title.
