The AP released their newest college basketball poll on Monday. For the fifth consecutive week, the Arizona Wildcats are the number one team in the nation. They received 60 of the 65 first place votes after remaining undefeated with a (2-0) start in the PAC 12.

Syracuse received the other five first place votes. The Orange survived their first ACC contest in a low scoring game against Miami.

The rest of the top five is filled with Big 10 teams. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State each had impressive victories to begin the conference season. The Badgers had to use a come from behind victory over Iowa to remain undefeated. Ohio State and Michigan State face off on Tuesday night.

CBSsportsline.com noted that Duke dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since 2007. The Blue Devils lost to Notre Dame during the Fighting Irish’s first ACC conference game. Duke spent 122 straight weeks in the top 10.

Wichita State is the highest ranked mid major team in the country. The Shockers have ridden last season’s final four berth into a great start this season. Wichita State is one of six teams still undefeated in college basketball.
