The Murray State Racers beat visiting Tennessee State this evening 69-48. MSU held the visitors to 28.8 percent shooting from the field and 20 percent from 3-point range.
Still, with 8:19 left to play it was anybody's game as the Racers led by just four points, 46-42. But they outscored TSU the rest of the way 23-6.
Ed Daniel led the way for Murray State with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Garrett also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Canaan had 16 points.
Kellen Thornton and Patrick Miller each scored 12 points for TSU while Robert Covington had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Tigers' M. J. Rhett left the game in the first half with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.
The Racers must now prepare for the start of a three-game road swing. They play on Thursday at SIUE. Next Saturday they play at Eastern Illinois. Then they play at Morehead State on February 20.
All three games will air on the Racer TV Network, ESPN3, and the OVC Digital Network. All MSU games are heard on Racer Radio over the air on WFGE 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com.
