September 28, 2011– We have just learned that the first 100 copies of the new edition of Jude Southerland Kessler’s book about John Lennon, Shoulda Been There, featuring the new cover by artist Shannon, will be offered as collectible editions. They will be numbered and signed by both Shannon and Kessler .
The cover that Shannon has created depicts Lennon in his “teddy boy” phase of 1957, when he created his first band, the Quarrymen. The look of that day was the pompadour hairdo and tough looking leather jacket, and stove-pipe jeans. Shannon was given the title of The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool in 1998. In 2008, she painted over 100 paintings for The Hard Day’s Night Hotel in Liverpool. She has recently completed a commissioned painting of the Beatles for the Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles became famous.
This new edition will be released on November 8 of 2011. Limited editions numbered 11 thru 100 will be sold for $100 each. Books numbered 1 thru 10 will be sold at a later time for an amount that has yet to be determined. Collectors and fans can pre-order the book at Jude’s website: www.OnTheRockBooks.com.
This is the 3rd printing of Shoulda BeenThere, an extensive biography about John Lennon covering his early life from his birth in 1940 – 1960. Written as a novel, it’s a unique approach to bringing John’s history alive in a conversational manner, complete with Liverpool slang and mannerisms that put it all into context. Kessler spent 20 years researching John's life, making several trips to Liverpool and interviewing many people who knew Lennon. The foreword is by Lennon friend and Merseybeat publisher Bill Harry. This is the first in a nine book expanded biographical series. Ms. Kessler’s second book, titled Shivering Inside, covers Lennon’s life from December 1960 thru April 1963.
