Colin Jost replaces Seth Meyers who replaces Jimmy Fallon who replaces Jay Leno

Jan. 23 reports say Colin Jost is set to take over the "Saturday Night Live" Weekend Update spot previously hosted by Seth Meyers. Meyers, a veteran of the SNL troupe, has moved on to "Late Night" to replace Jimmy Fallon who has moved on to replace Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," bringing the legendary program back to New York City where the show started with Johnny Carson as host.

That said, according to Wrap via Yahoo! on Thursday, Colin Jost seems to be the right guy for his very important news parody gig. After all, the stand-up comic has been on staff at "SNL" for years as a writer for the long-running, late night series that airs on NBC so he knows the territory.

By way of background, Colin Jost is a native New Yorker who is sure to have the right edge for his new job at the desk that was formerly helmed by Seth Meyers as well as other "SNL" greats like Jane Curtin, Chevy Chase, Norm Macdonald, Kevin Nealon, and Brad Hall.

And so, as Colin Jost replaces Seth Meyers who replaces Jimmy Fallon who replaces Jay Leno, the late night wars are on and full of absolutely amazing talent. Not only that, but each of these comic genius types happen to support each other. It's a beautiful thing!
