Cole Swindell comes full circle as ‘Chillin’ It’ hits #1

It was a long time coming, but Cole Swindell’s “Chillin’ It” finally made it to #1. Billboard reported on February 20 that the country newcomer’s debut reached the top spot after 38 weeks on the Hot Country Songs chart.

On his website, Cole Swindell said of the single:

The folks who are buying music just want to have fun. and 'Chillin’ It' is the perfect song to introduce me to them. It isn't a full-out party song, and it isn't serious. Like it says, it's just a chill song, and that's just me.

Apparently, nobody chills like Cole Swindell because his first single is well on its way to becoming Platinum certified as well. Selling 1 million copies of your first song isn’t a bad way to start off, especially for a guy who’s been waiting his turn to be in the spotlight for some time now.

Just a few years ago, Cole Swindell was still peddling t-shirts as Luke Bryan’s merchandise guy.
However, after writing several songs for Luke Bryan including “Beer in the Headlights,” “Love in a College Town” and “Shore Thing, as well as writing for several other artists, Cole Swindell struck out on his own.

The funny thing is, striking out on his own landed him right back where he started–sort of. This month, Cole Swindell is back on the road with Luke Bryan only this time, he won’t be selling t-shirts. Along with Lee Brice, Cole Swindell is an opening act for Luke Bryan.

It doesn’t get much better than having your dream come full circle.

Cole Swindell’s “Chillin’ It” moves into the #1 spot in the same week his self-title album hit stores. “Cole Swindell” and “Chillin’ It” are available on iTunes and everywhere music is sold.
