Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2013/2014 Winter season- Week 2-December 9th-December 15th

Male

Cole Beal- Jonesport-Beals- basketball- Scored 52 points, including 5 three pointers in 80-69 loss to Woodland. Scored 37 points in 63-58 loss to Sumner.

Beal is third Jonesport-Beals student/athlete to earn athlete of the week. Garet Beal captured the honor four times. Morgan Merchant won twice. Click here to see the full list of winners.

Runner up

Damon Lincoln- Woodland- basketball- Scored 39 points, including 6 three pointers in 80-69 victory over Jonesport-Beals.

Other nominations

Ryan Chasse- Fort Kent- basketball- Scored 17 points in 57-44 victory over Madawaska.

Nick Stowe Waterville- indoor track- Pr (personal record) in 55m, pr in 4x200m and does high jump for the first time in over a year and beats his pr by 6". Stowe took 2nd in season opening meet.

Chris Hale- Waterville- basketball- Recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in 65-57 win over MCI. Scored 17 points in 81-61 victory over Nokomis.

Kyle Ham- Central- basketball- Scored 18 points in 51-39 victory over Orono.

Nate Burns- PCHS- basketball- Scored 19 points in 62-59 win over Stearns.

Kyle Bouchard- Houlton- basketball- Scored 33 points, including 6 three pointers in 69-54 victory over Presque Isle.

Seth Brown- Stearns- basketball- Scored 18 points in 62-59 loss to PCHS. Scored 24 points in 77-54 win over Searsport.

Marc Morneault- Stearns- basketball- Scored 26 points in 77-54 win over Searsport.

Tristen French- PCHS- basketball- Scored 21 points on 7 three pointers in 53-39 victory over Penquis.

Garvey Melmed- Old Town- basketball- Scored 20 points in 68-46 win over Presque Isle.
