Clear and cold conditions will greet morning commuters across the region this morning. Strong high pressure north of Montreal was in firm control of the weather and will slowly drift eastward today, to be in the vicinity of Cape Cod tonight. As this happens, the winds will shift from their present northerly direction, to a more southerly to southeasterly direction.

Temperatures should begin a slow moderating trend into the weekend, however, another weak disturbance looks to approach the area during the day Saturday, bringing the threat for some light rain showers during the course of the day. The system’s passage will cause temperatures to retreat back below normal to close out the weekend.

Another repeat of the above cycle appears to happen on Monday, with a brief ‘warm up’ in advance of another weak disturbance, accompanied by light rain showers, and then a brief cool down into the middle portions of next week.

Temperatures are forecast to be below normal today, and then gradually trend to near to slightly below normal for the bulk of the forecast period. Precipitation amounts look to average below normal, as the series of systems forecast to pass through the region look to be relatively moisture deprived.
