Cold high pressure brings mostly sunny but frigid weather to close out work week

The weather across upstate eastern New York will feature two key elements over the next several days, the first being generally cold conditions, and the second being intermittent bouts of light snow and snow showers. Cold high pressure will be over the region to close out the work week, and despite bright sunshine today, high temperatures will not escape the teens.

A parade of fast moving, Alberta Clipper type, low pressure systems will march through the region during the coming weekend. One such system is forecast to sweep through the region during the day on Saturday. A second system looks to pay the region a visit late Sunday into Monday morning. Each system will bring with it a chance for some light snow and/or snow showers. Most importantly, behind each system will come a reinforcing shot of the bitter cold Arctic air that has been over our region, for the most part, since the beginning of the week.
