Cold hangs tough through the weekend, warmer temperatures by early next week (Video)

An ridge of high pressure was centered along an axis from near Watertown, NY to Washington, DC this morning. As this area of high pressure moves eastward, away from the region during the day today, clouds will be on the increase. Low pressure will approach the region from the west and south today, bringing chances for light snow late this afternoon and during the evening hours.

Below normal temperatures remain in the forecast for the coming weekend, however, high pressure will slowly be building into the region Saturday, and will be over the region on Sunday, providing tranquil, albeit cold, conditions.

The work week will feature moderating temperatures as a strong warm front approaches the region Monday, and passes through the area on Tuesday. An increase in clouds, temperatures, and chances for light precipitation look to be in the offing. A strong cold front looks to sweep through the region by late in the work week, tempering temperatures back to more seasonable levels for this time of year in time for next weekend.
