Tropical moisture from Rick to affect the South
A cold front will link up with moisture associated with Tropical Storm Rick to bring periods of heavy rain by Thursday.
Tropical Storm Rick with winds near 65 mph was located less than 200 miles south southwest of Cabo San Lucas Mexico and was moving to the northeast near 7 mph.
On this track, the center of Rick is expected to pass near or to the south of the southern tip of Baja California tonight or early Wednesday and approach the western coast of Mainland Mexico during the day on Wednesday.

Moisture associated with Rick was spreading across portions of southern Baja California and northwestern Mexico. Winds out of the southwest aloft will transport the tropical moisture across Mexico into South and Central Texas, where the moisture will combine with a frontal boundary to produce heavy rains across the South. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for North Central Texas from Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night, where 2 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible.
.
The frontal boundary along with Rick's moisture will move to the east and southeast, spreading heavy rains across the state on Thursday and Thursday night.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are likely.
While the state has experienced several days of dry weather, soils across the state remain fairly saturated. The potential of heavy rain toward the end of the week could lead to some localized flooding.
Everyone should stay updated on the latest weather information as it become available.
