A weak cold front was slowly sagging southward across portions of southeastern New York state early this morning. A low cloud deck had formed along, and to the northwest of, the cold front. This cloud deck will blanket the Capital Region early this morning before giving way to increasing amounts of sunshine for the afternoon. Unseasonably mild air will be in place today, and even tomorrow as a warm front lifts through the region.
The warmer weather will be transient though, as a more potent and defined cold front sweeps through the area later Wednesday and Wednesday night. This front will likely be accompanied by some showers through this time frame, and some of those showers may linger into the early morning hours on Thursday. A mix of sun and clouds will follow through the end of the week and into the weekend, along with much cooler temperatures, more seasonable to this time of year.
Another fast moving system looks to descend upon the area, from the northwest, on Saturday night. Moisture looks rather meager with this system, with most of the appreciable moisture content remaining closer to the Canadian border. An increase in clouds looks likely for Saturday afternoon and overnight across the region, as the weakening frontal system passes through the region. This will be followed by cooler temperatures and chilly air to close out the weekend and head into the new work week next week.
