Cold front brings light snow showers this morning and wind this afternoon (Video)

A fast moving cold front looks to sweep through the region during the morning hours. Some light snow showers and flurries will be possible with, and behind, the frontal passage. In addition, wind speeds look to increase during the day, as a tightening pressure gradient between low pressure to our northeast, and building high pressure to our west, moves over the area.

High pressure eventually wins the battle as we head into tomorrow, and looks to remain over the region through the coming weekend. Brightening daytime skies, a modest breeze, and clear chilly nights look to be in store through Sunday. Temperatures look to remain near to slightly below seasonal averages through this period.

Clouds should begin to increase on Monday, as a storm system gathers strength to our south. Low pressure develops over the Ohio valley, and rides north to the upper Great Lakes, while a secondary low pressure area looks to form in the vicinity of the mid Atlantic states. Preliminary indications suggest that the secondary system may hug the New England Tuesday, bringing a wintry mix of precipitation to the region to start with an eventual change to rain. Stay tuned for further refinements to the forecast regarding this system in the coming days!
