Shakes are versatile and quick, providing a juicy snack or a whole meal, depending on the ingredients. Coffee blends well with a variety of things, and milk of one type or another is one of the best. Here are seven recipes for coffee milkshakes; some are adjusted for dietary concerns.

Coffee Milkshake #1

1 c Strong fresh coffee
1 pn Salt
Ice cubes
2 lg Scoops vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 tb Sugar
Whipped cream
Shaved chocolate

Pour hot coffee over ice cubes to cool. Then put coffee, salt, ice cream, and sugar into mixing bowl. Beat just long enough to blend. Serve in a tall glass. Garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolate. Yield: 1 serving.

Coffee Milkshake #2

1 cup coffee ice cream
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add all the ingredients in a blender and blend for about 1 minute or until smooth. Pour into glass and serve immediately.

Coffee Milkshake #3

2 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon instant coffee

Place coffee in blender with vanilla ice cream and milk. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Cocoa Coffee Milkshake

2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon instant hot chocolate mix
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules

In a blender, combine ice cream, milk, vanilla, hot chocolate mix and instant coffee. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.

Chocolate Espresso Milkshake

1 cup milk
5 cubes ice
1 fluid ounce espresso coffee
3/4 cup chocolate ice cream
2 teaspoons instant hot chocolate mix
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
Directions

In a blender combine milk, ice cubes and espresso. Blend until smooth. Stop blender and scoop in the ice cream. Add the chocolate powder and a generous squeeze of chocolate syrup. Blend again until smooth. Pour into 2 tall glasses and serve immediately.

Non-Dairy Banana Coffee Shake

1 cup of vanilla soy milk
1 ripe banana, chilled
3 tblsp instant coffee
1 tsp brown sugar

Place ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth. The banana adds flavor, body and texture.

Low-Carb Non-Dairy Coffee Shake

1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
3/4 cup soy milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 packet Splenda, or to taste
6 ice cubes

Place ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth.
