The action started at the end of "Daily Show". Stephen Colbert confronted Jon Stewart, who didn't want to give up the control The Definitely Not Coordinating with Stephen Colbert Super PAC. He wanted it back, and he was going to chase Jon down to get it. It was on after Jon and Stephen argued about custody and who would be best at controlling the money (um, didn't Stewart buy a tiara with the money? That's abusing the right, seriously).
Jon Stewart had a few sneaky tactics to keep Colbert trailing behind. He threw tacks on the floor, causing Stephen to have to reinflate himself. He threw a wardrobe rack in his path, and poor Colbert wound up in a becoming pink pant suit. He wore it well, but it wasn't his color. Finally the chase wound up on the street. After acrobatic backflips and cartwheels, Stewart snuck into the set of "The View" and sat in with the hosts. He temporarily eluded Colbert by wearing a long blond wig. They wound up back on the streets when Jon hailed a horse-driven carriage like a taxi, only to be taken in by Stephen with an old-timey mustache and top hat!
They finally wound up at the studio. Stephen intimidated a begging, negotiating Jon. It was a trap! When Stewart was hanging upside down by a rope, the green mist of the Super PAC floating from Jon's open mouth to Colbert's. A triumphant Stephen, elated with getting back his power, yelled out a resounding, "Super PAC!!"
Stephen just gave up his control to Jon a few weeks ago when he was considering getting together an exploratory committee to possibly run for President of United States of South Carolina. He did wind up getting over 6000 votes, because a vote for ex-candidate Herman Cain was a vote for Stephen. Alas, it wasn't enough to explore any more possibilities of a run, but it did a lot to expose the inconsistencies of Super PACs in the political arena.
The Federal Election Commision requires all of the Super PACs to release there financial donation information to the public by February 1rst. Stephen announced in a note on his website www.colbertsuperpac.com that the again-named Stephen Colbert's Colbert Super PAC has raised $1,023,121.24 so far. That's a lot of tiaras. He also writes that he is considering changing the name again to John Colbert Cougar Super MellenPAC.
