Coffee County Animal opponents post petition to Governor Haslam

Recently, we featured a story about a protest that took place outside Coffee County Animal Control to stand against what some are saying is unfair treatment to the animals, as well as a program that hinders adoption and rescue.

But those who protested took it one step further this week when they posted a petition on Change.org.

The petition is a letter to Governor Haslam, Governor Cooper, and The Attorney General asking them to "Hold Coffee Co. Animal Control Accountable for Shooting and Abuse of Dogs."

As of this afternoon, over 600 signatures have already been collected.

Alan Alsup started the petition after news stories were broadcast that featured information about a dog that was shot and dumped in a trash can, dogs frozen to the concrete, and allegations of abuse by animal control officers.
