Coffee and caffeine: Is it heart smart?

Many ask if coffee, or caffeine, good for your heart and otherwise. This question can be answered in many different ways, and you will see it as such on various message boards and health articles online.

The truth of the matter is that it can be both good and bad for you. If you are under a lot of stress, putting the extra stress of caffeine into your system can cause heart problems. Over 80% of all major medical problems happy when we are under great stress. This is another good reason not to exercise right after drinking some caffeine. Exercise can put extra stress on your body on top of the caffeine.

Now, there is such a thing as not enough stress in your life. Our body does need some stress to keep us going, and coffee can give us the caffeine needed to get us up, alert, and ready for the day. Some people are even reported to have a cup of coffee before bed as part of their routine. Stress can also be relaxing for some people.

When you are deciding just how much coffee to have in the morning, it is important to keep in mind your stress level. If you don't keep it in mind, you can find your way to the emergency room quickly.
