The 17-year-old announced on his Twitter account back in December that he’d received an offer to appear on ABC’s popular celebrity dance competition show. It seems nothing has been firmly nailed down just yet. When asked about the gig, Simpson said, “We haven’t confirmed anything. We’re still talking about it, and I’m still trying to get opinions and figure out if I should do it. But it’s a cool opportunity, so we’ll see where it goes.”
The youngster feels confident that if he appears on the show, he would do well.
“I dance on stage all the time, so I don’t know how I’d do as far as ballroom and stuff, but hopefully I would get some practice in and it would be good for me.”
Other young performers have appeared on the series including Zendaya, Roshon Fegan, Kyle Massey and Shawn Johnson. Other rumored cast members for the upcoming sason include Kelly Brooke, Bruce Jenner, gold medal winning ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White and Sharon Osbourne.
ABC will be announcing the cast live on the Good Morning America talk show on March 4. Season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars” kicks off on Monday, March 17.
