CODE RED: "Deem & Pass" self-executing rule

Last year, the Democrats passed the nearly 900 billion dollar stimulus bill without reading it - on the promise that unemployment would not pass 8%.

This year, the Democrats are trying to pass the healthcare bill without voting on it - on the promise that they are actually fixing the Senate Healthcare bill.

In the next few days, Nancy Pelosi will enact a rules change that essentially says if one bill passes the House with certain fixes to the Senate healthcare bill, then the original Senate bill will also have been "deemed" passed by the House through a "self-executing rule."

This process is being dubbed "Deem & Pass" and it is being touted as a way to give the cover of deniability to all of those legislators who vote to pass the potential "improvements" but, at the same time, be able to say that they did not vote yes to pass the Senate bill even though that is exactly what they had done in placing a vote on the improvements measure.

"We're going to have a clean up or down vote on the Senate bill, that will be on the rule," Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said on "Good Morning America" today. "This is not an unusual procedure. We're going to vote on a rule."

This process fits the bill for Barack Obama's "Up-Or-Down" vote ... with an up or up vote.

Now is the time for people who wish to maintain the right to make decisions about the care used to keep healthy and alive ... to maintain one's quality of life  ... to stand up, take action, and be a part of the last line of defense in stopping a government takeover of healthcare.
