Anyone who lives in Michigan will tell you just how cold the winters can be; just a few minutes outside with exposed skin is enough to make you go numb. Now, take that knowledge and think about families who sleep in homes with no heat at all. Not a pretty thought, huh? If you're feeling the need to start helping out but aren't sure if you can dedicate much time or money, then here's a good alternative: Cocktails for a Cause: The Mix Masters.

Benefiting THAW, the heat and warmth fund, Cocktails for a Cause is in its fifth year and  is working in conjunction with WWJ Newsradio 950's radiothon. Thirteen local celebrities are slated to sling drinks at both Pulse, located on Monroe street, and Bookies Bar and Grill, located on Cass avenue on February 5 from nine p.m. to two a.m..

Among those scheduled for the event are recording artist Hush, Metromix's B.J. Hammerstein, pop-culture artist Slaw, hip-hop artist/entrepreneur RoSpit, CW50's Detroit Gossip Girls, boxer/ reality star Tarick Salmaci, Ken and Nino of the Viral Video Squad, Kerry Doman of and Michigan State Senator Buzz Thomas.

Pulse Detroit and Bookies Bar and Grill offer differing atmosphere's from swanky to comfy-casual so however you're feeling, one of these prime locales are bound to fit the bill. The celebrity bartenders will be competing to make the most creative drinks for bar patrons all evening so make sure to stop by to tip back a few, enjoy friends and have a great night all while donating to a great cause.

I went to this event last year and had a blast. The guest bartender where off-the-chain. I am looking forward to going to both bars.
