French police seized 30 suitcases stuffed with pure cocaine found aboard an Air France cargo plan at the Chales de Gaulle Airport in Paris according to a report by Global Post. Weighing 1.3 tons, the cocaine has a street value of 200 million euros, or 270 million dollars. Although the drugs were found over 1 week ago, the discovery was just now revealed by Interior Minister Manuel Valls.
Agence France-Presse’s source revealed that the flight originated in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Six people were arrested in this largest bust ever in the Paris region according to Valls. Those arrested are suspected members of a large international drug smuggling ring.
Officials said the suitcases were not registered to anyone on the flight, and that the cocaine was probably meant for sale in France. As well, Valls indicated a total of four tons of cocaine have been confiscated by police in France since January, 2013.
