Coca-Cola Park adding extra seats?

The Noise Nation's Horn and Bell is reporting that at a 2 p.m. press conference Tuesday at Coca-Cola Park, plans for adding extra seating and an outfield tiki bar to the East Allentown stadium could be unveiled.

The seats and the tiki bar would be planned to run alongside and above the bullpens currently in left field.

A January 2011 post from Modular Product Blog also supports this idea and includes a sketch and computer generated images of the finished product. The sketch includes notes, one of which calls for 48 fixed seats on an overhang in between the PPL Picnic Patio and the bullpen.

The idea of expanding the seating capacity and aesthetically improving what has been a relatively empty space in left field is a great idea. But, especially after a price hike in seating currently around the park, these seats will probably not come cheap and could be reserved for group outings only.

If the area is being designed strictly for group reservations, the bullpen tiki bar would join two party porches, the PPL Picnic Patio, dugout suites and a number of luxury boxes as options for group outings.

In any case, even if tomorrow’s press conference is not to announce the added outfield bar and seating, this plan sounds like it could be disclosed soon.
