The Winter Concert of the Coastside Community Orchestra will perform Beethoven's Overture #3 Leonore Symphony #5.
The concert will be held 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 2 at the Community United Methodist Church, 777 Miramontes Street in Half Moon Bay.
Conductor is Robert Smith, a founding member of the orchestra. Charles Calvert will be featured in Elgar Concert for Cello in E Minor.
The Coastside Community Orchestra has been holding its own among local symphonies, professional and armature, for since the spring of 1983. That spring a group of local musicians decided that the San Mateo County coastal community needed an orchestra.
An advertisement was place, and 10 musicians joined forces to create the Coastside Community Orchestra.
Musicians with diverse backgrounds, ages and expertise are part of the orchestra which is sponsored by the Half Moon Bay Parks and Recreation Department.
No auditions are required and the door is always open to string players. Weekly rehearsals are held at the Ted Adcock Community Center of Half Moon Bay.
Concert tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and free for students and children.
