Yesterday marked the second day of the final weekend for the Coachella Music Festival in 2014, and although the weather heated up from the first day, the spirits of festival goers were no less high. Saturday brings in the biggest crowds, as Friday's people have school and work, and other obligations, but Saturday people are able to let loose, enjoy some drinks and party all night long.
Headliners for the night were Palm Desert natives Queens of The Stone Age, who despite their rampant plays on KROQ managed to draw less of a crowd than the electro-pop stylings of Sleigh Bells on the neighboring stage. Maybe it is a clue to the type of crowd that Coachella attracts, or maybe people were just getting a good spot for Pharrell, and his unlimited supply of special guests. Guests that included, rappers such as Ti, Busta Ryhmes, and none other than Sean Carter (Jay-Z).
At the end of the night the crowd was split down the middle like boys and girls at a middle school dance. Hip-Hop fans settled at the Outdoor stage, cruising through Pharrell's set so they can watch Nasty Nas perform Illmatic on the 20th anniversary of it's debut. And Rock fans stuck with one another as Queens of the Stone Age and Muse, closed out the night on the main stage.
Additional notable artists for the day included RnB/Hip-Hop newbie Kid Cudi, almost legal starlet Lorde, and the newly reunited rockers Pixies.
Also playing were the following artists: Foster The People, MGMT, City and Colour, Cage The Elephant, Graveyard, Unlocking The Truth, Capital Cities, The Head and the Heart, Chvrches, Ty Segall, Foxygen, Syd Arthur, Saints of Valory, The Dismemberment Plan, Darkside, Galantis, Solange, Future Islands, Washed Out, Holy Ghost, Banks, White Lies, The Internet, Laura Mvula, AFTA-1, Pet Shop Boys, Mogwai, RL Grime, Warpaint, Julian Casablancas, Bombay Bicycle Club, Temples, Drowners, Bear Hands, Young & Sick, WoodysProduce,Skrillex, Empire of The Sun, Fatboy Slim, Dillon Francis, GTA, Carbon Airways, TJR, Headhunterz, MAKJ, UZ, Ravell, Tiga, The Magician, Nicole Moudaber, Cajmere, Guy Gerber, Aeroplane, Sander Kleinberg, Richoshei, Lesto.
