Coachella last-minute additions creates bigger buzz

You’ve got to hand it to the promoters of Coachella, it’s not enough to create a major buzz by hosting the first reunion performance by Outkast. They raised that with last-minute additions of Pixies and Julian Casablancas to this weekend’s schedule.

Both artists have new releases coming out in 2014. Pixies combined its three EPs for the 12 track album, “Indie Cindy,” April 29, on the band’s Pixiesmusic label.

Casablancas hasn’t announced a release date for his second solo album with his backing band, the Voidz, but did offer a preview of the upcoming studio effort. It can be seen here, www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aX4ohIN4UA.

Taking place April 11-13 and again on April 18-20 at Indio, California’s Empire Polo Field, Coachella also boasts an identical lineup both weekends that includes headlining sets by Arcade Fire and Muse.

Its multiple stages also host the reunited Replacements, Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Neutral Milk Hotel, Broken Bells Motorhead, Skrillex, Girl Talk, Foster the People, Pet Shop Boys, Bryan Ferry, Neko Case, Afghan Whigs, MGMT, The Head and The Heart, Beady Eye, Sleigh Bells, HAIM, Capital Cities, Big Gigantic, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Grouplove and ZZ Ward.

Those who aren’t able to attend the sold out fest can watch livestreamed performances at Coachella’s Youtube page, www.youtube.com/user/coachella.
