Coachella 2014: What to wear, how to pack

Coachella fever can be felt all over the country as the dates for the annual music festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio are coming up soon. This extravaganza starts next weekend and continues through the next weekend. Slated to take place in the California desert and drawing all kinds of music aficionados means getting ready in as complete a manner as possible. According to Vanessa Franko in her Press-Enterprise blog on April 6, certain items are essential for this gathering.

According to Franko, one very important item to take to Coachella that may not be obvious is a set of earplugs. This writer points out the reason why, stating, "If you are going to post up in front of the main stage when gates open just to get a great spot for OutKast’s Friday night headlining set, you will want to be able to hear them by the time they come on."

Another not so practical accoutrement to take if you want to put your best face forward as a person who stands out among the put-together fashionistas who are conquering the desert to listen to all the music is a full make-up kit and a big enough mirror to set up at your own private station. This way you can freshen up without having to leave your post. Convenience will reign.

Meanwhile, another must that isn't for vanity's sake is to pack copious amounts of sun screen. As Vanessa Franko points out, "The Empire Polo Club is full of wide open spaces where you can soak up the sunshine. You don’t want to be lobsterman [or woman] by Sunday." She recommends 30 SPF because the sun [in Indio] is intense."

Also, because almost all big publications will talk about what the celebrities who attend Coachella were wearing, it's probably best to bring an impractical outfit that shows off your best assets.

As an example, E! Online showed off the glittery and rather sexy ensemble Vanessa Hudgens wore in 2013. Note that this actress did not rock any shoes last year, illustrating that packing heels is not necessary and probably not a good idea at all given the squishy grass at the Empire Polo Club and all the walking involved in order to really embrace this massive music festival.

And so, as the dates for Coachella 2014 will soon be here, thinking it out before heading out about what to wear and how to pack is a must for this particular meet-up where everyone always seem to have a good time and then some.
